The consequences of not treating

Sometimes GERD results in serious complications, such as ulcers of the esophagus and narrowing of the esophagus, and in some cases can cause cancer.
GERD is one of the most common chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. The disease occurs because of reflux of stomach contents and bile into the esophagus, resulting in damage of the mucosa. The reflux of gastric contents can affect other organs: the larynx, trachea and even the bronchi. Often gastroesophageal reflux disease causes heartburn, which occurs through 1-1,5 hours after meals, acid regurgitation after meals and feeling of pain during swallowing. Affecting the respiratory, the GERD causes sore throat, cough or even bronchitis.
